Cup of Tea for the Tired
Sometimes, what stunts our growth to pursue a career, hobby, or the desire to improve on a certain skill is our anxiety of failure - of not being good enough. It’s only human of us to compare ourselves to others. We cannot help but inquire how far our current passion can drive us into the future, how long it can kindle the desire to evolve what we have to something much more, how many people we can surpass in the same field. But here’s the thing, what you have now will always be less than what you could be if you take that step into the road of becoming better. Become your own benchmark.
Everyone has a different learning capacity so don’t belittle yourself when you feel like you haven’t gotten better by much. Beating yourself down with a stick won’t do you good, unless you get off on that, which is a totally different story.
Practice gives us the opportunity to leap forward little by little, not day dreaming or simple wishful thinking.
Keep your eyes on the goal but never let it daunt you. When times like that come, look back and see how much you’ve travelled away from what you used to be. Be excited on the long road of possibilities waiting for you to unlock! We were meant to improve, never to be blocked.
Compounded little steps turn into big ones :)
Lesson in a nutshell: don’t compare yourself to others, your only opponent is you.
